Introduction
Eventually, I want to use this space to put all my own research online. In the meantime, I have some old out-of-copyright texts which I feel are particularly important, and I'm doing those first!
Holy Wells Texts
- "The Oyly-Well: or, A Topographico-Spagyrical description of the Oyly-Well, at St. Catharines-chappel in the Paroch of Libberton." by M. Mackaile, was originally published in Edinburgh by Robert Brown in 1664.
- The Legendary Lore of the Holy Wells of England by Robert Charles Hope was originally published by Elliot Stock in 1893, and is one of the most important and sought after books on Holy Wells. So far all the front matter and the counties as far as Shropshire are available. All the illustrations have now been scanned and can be accessed from the "List of Illustrations" page.
My Stuff
- Archæological Theory and Water Cults - originally written as a university essay and re-vamped as a talk to the Perth moot, this article looks at the history of the interpretation of holy wells and prehistoric water cults.
